JV Team Falls To MontreatNovember 7, 2007
MONTREAT, N.C. -- The Anderson University junior varsity basketball team dropped a 71-61 decision to Montreat on Tuesday night. After trailing much of the first half by double figures, the Trojans pulled within eight points as time expired on a 3-point shot from halfcourt by Andrew Driver. Montreat came out in the second half and pushed the lead to 16 before the Trojans went on a 9-0 run to pull within seven with three minutes remaining in the game. However, that was as close as AU would get. “We got great looks all night long on the offensive end," said Anderson head coach Jeff Brookman. "We just happened to miss several easy baskets down the stretch that could have changed the momentum of the game. All 12 guys gave a hundred perccent tonight. We just came up a little short.” The Trojans, who were 24 for 49 from the field, were led by Daniel Herrin’s 17 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Chris Caldwell scored 13 points in his first game of the season. Sophomore Hans Christensen had another strong performance with 10 points and six rebounds. The Trojan JV is back in action Friday, November 16 when they play host to Oxford College at 7 p.m.
