St. Andrews Takes Control Early, Routs AU
January 30, 2007LAURINBURG, N.C. -- St. Andrews Presbyterian made four 3-point goals in the first six minutes of the game to build a 19-4 lead and went on to beat Anderson University 79-49 Saturday afternoon. St. Andrews, 8-10 overall and 5-6 in the CVAC, avenged the 69-48 setback it suffered at Anderson on Jan. 6. Richard Stone led St. Andrews with 21 points. Marcus Hoke scored 19 and Taiwon Grooms tallied 11 for the Knights. Hoke was 4-for-6 from behind the arc. Kris Fudzinskas was the lone Anderson player in double figures with 11 points. Fudzinskas also had a game-high 11 rebounds. The Knights led 47-27 at the half and a 3-point goal by Grooms with 14:19 to play pushed the St. Andrews lead over 30 for the first time -- 60-28. St. Andrews' largest lead was 35 -- 78-43 -- with 1:51 to play. St. Andrews averaged 1.16 points per possession. Anderson is now 1-15, 2-9.
