Trojans Close Regular Season With Loss

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- Pfeiffer University scored 32 points off 29 Anderson University turnovers on its way to an 87-67 victory over the Trojans in a CVAC men's game Saturday night. Pfeiffer improves to 17-10 overall and 12-8 in the CVAC, while Anderson falls to 6-20, 4-16. Anderson led 13-12 at the 11:04 mark of the first half, but Pfeiffer went on a 23-8 run to seize a 35-21 lead with 4:13 remaining in the half. The Falcons led 40-25 at the half, and the Trojans never got closer than seven points in the second half. Pfeiffer was led by DeMario Grier with 16 points, Tavares Cooper with 15 points, and Cory Knight with 13. Anderson's O'Tey Sellers led all scorers with a career-high 25 points. Sellers, a freshman from Holly Hill, S.C., was 9-for-14 from the field and made three 3-point goals. Alfred Boykin and Ronald Bowers added 10 points apiece for the Trojans. Anderson shot 56 percent from the field to Pfeiffer's 51 percent. Anderson will open play in the CVAC Tournament Monday night at the No. 6 seed Belmont Abbey, a 73-71 winner at first-place Barton Saturday night.
