Barton Pulls Away Late To Beat AC
December 5, 2005WILSON, N.C. – Alejo Barovero and Brian Leggett scored 20 points apiece to lead Barton College to a 79-64 victory over Anderson College in a CVAC men’s game Saturday night. Barton, 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the CVAC, led 38-32 at the half and held on to it the entire second half. Anderson got within two points early in the second half but could get no closer. Anderson, 1-5 and 0-2, was led by Alfred Boykin with 12 points. Barovero, who was 4-for-7 from behind the arc, scored 17 of his points in the first half. Barton outscored Anderson by 12 points at the line and scored 24 points off 24 Anderson turnovers. Barton was 17-for-22 from the line, while Anderson was 5-for-5. Led by Aurimas Silys’ 11 rebounds, Anderson won the boards, 38-32. Barton shot 47 percent from the field to Anderson’s 41 percent.
