Home Openers For AC Teams Tuesday Night

ANDERSON, S.C. -- Both Anderson College basketball teams will open their 2005-06 home schedule when Lees-McRae comes to the Abney Center for a CVAC doubleheader. For one of three home dates this season, the Anderson College women's team will play the nightcap. The men's game will start at 5:30 p.m. and the women's game will follow at 7:30 p.m. The Anderson men are 1-3 after losing a 66-64 buzzer beater to Mars Hill on Nov. 21. The Trojans are led by senior center Randy Javois, who is averaging 15 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Junior guard J.R. Howell is off to a hot start for AC. Howell is shooting 60.6 percent from the field and 56 percent (14-25) from behind the arc. In their first four games, the Trojans have held the opposition to 42.7 percent from the field. The Lees-McRae men enter the game with a record of 0-4. The Lady Trojans are 1-1 after splitting a pair of games in West Virginia Nov. 18-19. The Anderson women are led by juniors Deidra Langston (23 ppg) and LaShonda Chiles (20.5 ppg). Langston scored 38 points in Anderson's opener against Concord. The Lees-McRae women also are 1-1. Before the women's game, the members of last year's Sweet 16 team will receive medallions provided by the NCAA.
