Trojan Softball Ranked Second in Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson University softball team is ranked second in the Southeast Region in the NCAA’s initial Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday afternoon 

Anderson (36-10), which is battling for the South Atlantic Conference regular-season title, closes out its regular season with a conference doubleheader at Coker Saturday afternoon. The Trojans have won 15 of their last 18 outings and is one of five teams from the league making an appearance in the regional rankings, along with Lenoir-Rhyne (third), Wingate (seventh), Catawba (eighth) and Carson-Newman (ninth).

Peach Belt Conference-member North Georgia, ranked fourth nationally in the latest NFCA Coaches’ Poll, heads up the Southeast Region ranking and is joined by fellow PBC-member Armstrong Atlantic State, which is ranked 19th in the country, in the fourth spot behind Lenoir-Rhyne. The Bears were ranked 13th in the latest NFCA Poll. USC Aiken and Georgia College, both from the Peach Belt, are fifth and sixth, respectively in the regional rankings. 

North Greenville, from Conference Carolinas, rounds out the Southeast Region rankings.
 
The NCAA’s regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through April 30, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, May 4.

In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, with five more at-large selections.

First-pitch versus the Cobras in Hartsville, S.C. is slated for 1 p.m.
