First-Place Mount Olive Dominates Anderson, 83-53

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. -- Mount Olive maintained its share of first place in the CVAC standings with a convincing 83-53 victory over Anderson College Saturday night at College Hall. Mount Olive improves to 22-3 overall and 16-2 in the CVAC. The loss, Anderson's fourth straight, drops the Trojans to 9-15, 7-11. Mount Olive jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first three and half minutes and never looked back. The loss was Anderson's worst setback since the Trojans were beaten by Southern Indiana 94-61 on Dec. 31. Mount Olive placed five players in double figures. Elijah Rouse and Elton Coffield had 13 points apiece, Melvin Creddle and Maurice Horton had 12 points apiece, and Sharome Holloway scored 11. John LeSueur led Anderson with 12 points, and Alfred Boykin chipped in 10. LeSueur was 4-for-6 from behind the arc. Mount Olive, which led 41-24 at the half, shot 61 percent in the second half to put the game away. Anderson shot 39 percent in the second half and made just nine baskets. Mount Olive dominated the boards, 42-23. Holloway was the game's leading rebounder with eight. No player for Anderson had more than four rebounds.
