Unattached Telhada Places Second at Newberry OpenFebruary 8, 2014
NEWBERRY, S.C. – Anderson University wrestling competed in the annual Newberry Open, as senior Dan Telhada, who wrestled the tournament unattached, captured a second-place finish to lead the Trojans Saturday at Newberry’s Eleazer Arena.
Telhada finished the tournament with a 3-1 record at 157, highlighted by a second-round pin over UNC Pembroke’s Milo Shelton at the 2:03 mark. Telhada’s tournament run was halted by NC State’s Chad Pyke by a 7-5 decision in the second-place bout.
Seniors Eric DeAngelis (157) and Taylor Dorsett (184) along with freshman Robert Johnson (197) all competed in their respective weight class.
Anderson returns to its dual schedule on Wednesday when they travel to Brewton-Parker. The first bout from Mount Vernon, Ga. is set for 7 p.m.
