Zimmerman Named First Team All-CVACMarch 4, 2004
DUE WEST, S.C. – Joel C. Zimmerman of Anderson College was named first-team All-CVAC first team Thursday night during the league’s basketball banquet at Erskine College. Zimmerman, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior from Knoxville, Tenn., led Anderson in scoring at 15.5 points per game. He scored in double figures in 22 of 28 games with a high game of 28 points against Newberry on Dec. 12. In just three seasons, Zimmerman managed to finish his career sixth on the Anderson career scoring list with 981 points, fifth on the rebounding list with 311, second on the assists list with 198, and second on the steals list with 135. For his career, Zimmerman shot 37 percent from behind the arc and made 186 3-point goals. He four or more 3-point goals in a single game seven times during the 2003-04 season. He played 970 minutes in 2003-04 and played 35 or more minutes in 16 games. The other members of the All-CVAC first team were Spencer Ross of Queens University of Charlotte, Rico Grier of Pfeiffer, John Green of Barton, and Marcus West of Mount Olive. Ross was named the Player of the Year, and Aaron Dugger of Lees-McRae was named Freshman of the Year. Dave Davis of regular-season champion Pfeiffer was named Coach of the Year.
