CVAC Announces Tournament PairingsFebruary 29, 2004
THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- The Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference announced the pairings for the 2004 CVAC Tournament, which starts Tuesday at the home courts of the higher seeds. In the men's bracket on Tuesday, No. 11 Coker will travel to No. 6 Anderson, No. 10 St. Andrews will visit No. 7 Erskine, and No. 9 Lees-McRae will travel to No. 8 Limestone. First-round winners will advance to Wednesday night's second round. The winner of the Lees-McRae-Limestone game will play at No. 1 Pfeiffer, No. 5 Barton will travel to Belmont Abbey, the St. Andrews-Erskine winner to go to No. 2 Mount Olive, and the Anderson-Coker winner to visit Queens. All single games will start at 7 p.m. If there are any doubleheaders, the game times will be 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The four remaining teams will travel to Erskine for the semifinals on Friday. The men's championship game will be played at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Anderson (14-15) is 2-0 against Coker this season. The Trojans won the game played in Anderson on Dec. 6, 67-63, and beat the Cobras in Hartsville on Feb. 21, 75-60. In the women's bracket, Tuesday's first round will feature No. 11 Limestone at No. 6 Lees-McRae, No. 10 Queens at No. 7 St. Andrews, and No. 9 Pfeiffer at No. 8 Mount Olive. In Wednesday's second round, the Pfeiffer-Mount Olive winner will travel to No. 1 Barton, No. 5 Erskine will play at No. 4 Coker, the St. Andrews-Queens winner will visit No. 2 Anderson, and the Lees-McRae-Limestone winner to visit No. 3 Belmont Abbey. Wednesday's winners will advance to the Friday semifinals at Erskine College. The women's championship game will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday at Erskine. Anderson (21-6) swept Queens and split with St. Andrews during the regular season. Game time on Wednesday is 7 p.m. The No. 2 seeding is the highest ever for the Anderson women, who are ranked eighth in the East Region.
