Anderson-Erskine Cup UnveiledFebruary 5, 2004
ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson-Erskine Cup Presented By ARAMARK was unveiled Thursday night during the AC-Erskine basketball doubleheader at the Abney Center. In the fall of 2003, Anderson College athletic director Bobby Beville and Erskine College athletic director Chip Sherer created the Anderson-Erskine Cup Presented By ARAMARK. The purpose of the Anderson-Erskine Cup Presented By ARAMARK is to promote competition between Anderson and Erskine, both proud members of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference, and increase the rivalry between the two schools. Cup points are awarded in the sports of menís and womenís cross country, menís and womenís soccer, menís and womenís basketball, menís and womenís tennis, baseball, and softball. Cup points also are awarded in two academic categories Ė highest graduation rate and highest percentage of athletes on the CVAC academic honor roll. The winner of the Cup will be announced after the spring competitions and the Cup will be awarded at the winnerís spring sports banquet. After Thursday night's doubleheader, the competition is tied at 8.5 points per school. The Anderson-Erskine Cup is sponsored by ARAMARK, the official food service at both schools. The food service directors Ė Greg Quarles of Anderson College and Randy Moore of Erskine College Ė unveiled the Anderson-Erskine Cup Presented By ARAMARK for the first time during halftime of the AC-Erskine men's game.
