Newberry Gains Revenge Against AC, 65-50

NEWBERRY, S.C. -- Newberry jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first half and cruised to a 65-50 victory over Anderson College in a non-conference game Monday night. Newberry capitalized on a 12-minute Anderson scoring drought to take control of the game. Newberry broke open a 5-5 tie after a minute and a half of play by scoring 16 unanswered points, six of those coming from junior forward Reggie Coleman. Anderson would fall behind by as much as 20 points, closing to 35-20 at the half, but never got closer than 10, that deficit coming with 7:29 remaining in the game. Colemanís 12 points paced the Indians, while both Rashaad Carter and Brandon Moses pitched in 10 each. ACís senior guard Joel Zimmerman had the high hand in scoring with 19, and junior forward Kennedy Bass added 12. The victory gains the Indians a split with the Trojans this season. AC won the earlier meeting between the two schools in Anderson on Dec. 12, 83-71. Newberry is now 4-6, while Anderson falls to 5-3. AC-Newberry Box Season Statistics
