Georgia State Uses 21-0 Run To Beat AC

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Georgia State used a 21-0 run in the second half to beat Anderson College 79-62 in its home opener Saturday afternoon. The Panthers produced a 17-point win at the Georgia State Sports Arena with four players scoring in double figures. Center Reo Logan and point guard Herman Favors each netted 15 points while Lamont McIntosh added 13 points and Trello Galloway chipped in with 11 points. The Panthers substituted freely with no player playing more than 27 minutes. Forward Chris Poore led Anderson with 18 points and guard Joel C. Zimmerman added 14 points. Georgia State burst out to a quick 7-0 lead to start the game but the visitors from Anderson would not give in easily. The Trojans went on an 11-2 run to take the lead at 11-9 at the 13:40 mark. Once again, GSU streaked to a 20-15 lead with 8:30 left only to see Anderson answer with another 8-0 run to take a 23-20 advantage. Anderson twice held four-point leads at 32-28 and 34-30 before heading into the locker room with a surprising 37-36 lead. In the second half, Georgia State quickly regained the lead on a pair of Lamont McIntosh three-point baskets at 16:31 and would never lose the lead. With the score at 46-44, Georgia State began the deciding 21-0 run that kept Anderson off the board from the 15:10 mark until the 7:32 mark. Sylvester Morgan had eight points in that run with Reo Logan adding six points, too. Georgia State's largest lead was 23 points at 67-44 with 7:45 to play. Georgia State had a 32-23 rebound advantage with 15 offensive rebounds. The game was AC's lone outing against a Division I opponent this season. AC-Georgia State Box Season Statistics
