Crusaders Rally Past AC, 67-55

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – North Greenville outscored Anderson College 12-0 in the final 3:51 to beat the Trojans 67-55 Tuesday night at the Hines Gym. The Crusaders, 1-1 overall, shot 56 percent in the second half while limiting the Trojans to 30 percent. Anderson, 2-1 overall, shot just 29 percent for the game and made just 7 of 24 shots from behind the arc. North Greenville was led by Cameron Chandler with 15 points, Trevor Boggs with 13 points and Rob Wilton with 12. Anderson was led by Joel C. Zimmerman, who converted two four-point plays in the second half, with 16 points. The game was tied at 51 with 5:05 remaining, but Zimmerman broke the tie with his second four-point play. But the Crusaders rallied to tie the game at 55, and from that point, took command of the game. Chris Sabb scored back-to-back field goals, then Chandler made a 3-point goal and two free throws to give North Greenville a 60-55 lead. North Greenville dominated the glass, 48-36. Boggs was the game’s leading rebounder with eight. Anderson led 29-25 at the half. Both teams struggled early in the game. The first points were not scored until almost four minutes had elapsed. AC trailed 5-2 with 15:44 remaining in the first half but then the Trojans put together a 19-6 run for a 21-11 lead with 8:41 to play. During the run, AC got 3-point goals from Jerome Johnson and Selynto Anderson and connected on seven free throws. Anderson made just 9 of 31 field-goal attempts (29 percent) in the first half but made 8 of 10 from the free throw line. North Greenville shot just 35 percent (10-29) in the first half.
