INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson University softball team is ranked sixth in the second of three NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, as released Wednesday.
Anderson (37-13), which suffered a pair of setbacks in last week’s South Atlantic Conference Tournament, slipped one spot from fifth to sixth and is one of four teams from the league making an appearance in the regional top-10, along with Lenoir-Rhyne (2nd), Wingate (8th) and Catawba (10th).
The top three teams in the poll remained unchanged from a week ago, with Armstrong Atlantic State, which is ranked second nationally in the latest NFCA Coaches Poll, heading up the Southeast Region rankings for the second consecutive week. Lenoir-Rhyne, which captured the SAC Tournament crown, is in the second spot. North Georgia remained in third after dropping out of the NFCA Top 25 Poll on Tuesday.
Columbus State, ranked 16th nationally, was sixth last week in the NCAA Southeast Region rankings, but moved into fourth after winning the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. Mount Olive claimed the Conference Carolinas Tournament title and vaulted from eighth to fifth this week.
