AC Upset Bid Falls Short; Queens Prevails, 77-68

ANDERSON, S.C. – Spencer Ross scored 27 points and Carlos Andrade added 25 to lead Queens University of Charlotte to a 77-68 victory over upset-minded Anderson College in a men’s CVAC game Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. Queens, 20-2 overall and 13-2 in the CVAC, led by just two – 29-27 at the half – and by just one – 58-57 – with 3:34 remaining. AC got within one point four times in the final six minutes but could never take the lead. Back-to-back baskets by Andrade gave the Royals a 62-57 lead with 2:44 remaining, but a 3-point goal by Robbie Seabrook, who led AC with 21 points, sliced the Queens lead to 62-60 with 2:36 left. From that point, the Royals went on a 10-3 run that decided the game. Chris Benson and Spencer Ross scored five points apiece during the Royals’ run. Anderson, which has lost seven straight, falls to 5-17, 3-12. Following Seabrook for the Trojans was Donielle Davis with 15 points and Joel C. Zimmerman with 14 points. Queens shot 49 percent from the field and ruled the boards, 43-29. Ross and Andrade had seven rebounds apiece for the Royals. Seabrook also was AC’s top rebounder with 11. Anderson shot 44 percent in the second half to finish the game at 38 percent. The Trojans made 11 3-point goals to 7 for Queens. Game Statistics Season Statistics
