Coker Rally In Second Half Takes Down Trojans

ANDERSON, S.C. Coker outscored Anderson 32-7 in the final 12 minutes to beat the Trojans 74-64 in a CVAC mens game Monday night at the Abney Center. Coker, 5-11 overall and 3-8 in the CVAC, trailed 57-42 with 12:08 remaining, but back-to-back 3-point goals by Jason Fulwood and a basket by Derrick Hilton cut the AC lead to 57-50 with 9:05 remaining. After the Trojans pushed their lead back to 10 62-52 Coker made its final push, outscoring AC 22-2 in the final 8:28. ACs final basket of the game was a layup by Tim Thomas at the 6:10 mark. Coker scored the final 15 points of the game. Coker was led by Joey Patrick with 19 points and Derrall Beason with 14 points. Beason also had nine assists and two steals. Anderson, 5-13 and 3-8, was led by Robbie Seabrook with 20 points and Donielle Davis with 14. After shooting just 35 percent in the first half, the Cobras heated up in the second half by making 17 of 25 shots from the floor (68 percent). Anderson shot just 34 percent in the second half to finish at 39 percent for the game. The Trojans took 35 shots from behind the arc but made just nine. Coker had 37 rebounds, 28 off the defensive glass. Anderson had 35 rebounds, 13 off the offensive glass. AC built a 10-point lead in the first five minutes of the game and led 35-26 at the half.
