Fleet Beats AC With Late Shot, 65-63

DUE WEST, S.C. -- Jay Waring made a 3-point goal with 11.2 seconds to play and Jeff Weirsma blocked a last-season shot attempt by Anderson to lead Erskine to a 65-63 victory in a CVAC men's game Saturday night at the Galloway Athletic Center. The Trojans wasted a sterling effort from senior Robbie Seabrook, who set a school single-game record with 36 points and went over the 1,000-point mark for his career. Seabrook is the fourth AC player to top 1,000 career points. He now has 1,008 career points. Seabrook also tied his own record with eight 3-point goals in a single game. He also made eight against Wofford on Dec. 4, 1999. With 34 seconds remaining and Erskine trailing 63-62, Weirsma went to the line. He missed both free throws. Erskine fouled Joel C. Zimmerman with 30 seconds remaining, but Zimmerman missed the front end of a one-and-one, and Bobby Isom grabbed the rebound for the Fleet. AC's defense was tight on Waring, but he let it fly from the top of the key and nailed it to give Erskine a 65-63 lead. AC called timeout with 3.3 seconds remaining to set up a final play. The Trojans got the ball to Cory Lundeen, but his shot was blocked by Wiersma to save the game for the Fleet. Erskine, 7-9 overall and 4-6 in the CVAC, was led by Markus Oertelt with 21 points and Isom with 20 points. Donielle Davis added 15 points for AC, 5-12 and 3-7. Erskine shot 51 percent from the field, while limiting AC to 36 percent. Erskine also dominated the glass, 38-22. The Fleet, led by Isom's nine rebounds, grabbed 31 defensive rebounds. AC tied a school record for fewest turnovers in a single game with 6. Erskine committed 22 turnovers. Wiersma's late block of Lundeen was his fifth of the game. Game Statistics Season Statistics
