
Men's Golf in Second at Richard Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Anderson University men’s golf team sits in second place following the first day of action at the Richard Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba on Monday at the 6,665-yard par 71 Country Club of Salisbury.
Junior Sean Shelton carded an even-par 71 to lead the Trojans’ first-round efforts and is tied for sixth heading into Tuesday’s final round, just four shots behind USC Aiken’s J.P. Solis, who leads the tourney. Senior John Moore fired an opening-round 72 and is in a four-way tie for eighth.
Junior Arran Setro posted a 74 and is tied for 17th, while freshman Payden Parrish is tied for 28th after a first-round 75. Sophomore CJ Messana is 90th following a 90 on the first day.
UNC Pembroke’s Michael Mullman (69) is two strokes behind Solis, and there is a three-way tie for third, with Shelton even with USC Aiken’s Kyle Godsman in sixth.
The Trojans (292) trail USC Aiken (289) by just three shots and are four strokes ahead of Belmont Abbey and UNC Pembroke, which carded a team total 296.
The two-day event is scheduled to wrap up on Tuesday.
