AC Upsets Longwood For First CVAC Victory

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson scored 26 points off 25 Longwood turnovers on its way to a 73-60 upset of the Lancers Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. The victory snapped a four-game losing streak for AC and improves the Trojans to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the CVAC. The loss was the first in the CVAC for the Lancers, 8-5, 5-1. Anderson was led by Joel C. Zimmerman with 22 points, Robbie Seabrook with 19, and Donielle Davis with 12. Longwood’s Nick Payne led all scorers with 25 points. Longwood led most of the first half. The Lancers jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the first six minutes of the game. But 3-point goals by Marco Zoric, Zimmerman, and Seabrook helped the Trojans battle back to take a 16-15 lead with 11:39 remaining. Davis gave AC a 37-36 halftime lead by hitting a jumper from the top of the key at the buzzer. The score was tied twice in the second half, but AC snapped the second tie with a 9-0 run for a 51-42 lead with 10:37 to play. A 3-point basket by Seabrook and a 3-point basket and field goal by Davis gave AC a 59-45 lead with 7:32 to go. The Lancers never got closer than nine points the remainder of the game. Longwood won the boards, 37-32 and shot 47 percent from the field while limiting AC to 39 percent. But the Lancers committed 25 turnovers to just eight for AC.
