Barton Too Much For AC In The Second Half

ANDERSON, S.C. Ė Barton opened the second half with a 16-5 and went to post a 68-56 victory over Anderson in a Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference menís game Wednesday night at the Abney Center. Barton, 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the CVAC, was led by Tim Black with a game-high 22 points. Jacoby Key added 18 points and Derek Becton chipped in 11 for the Bulldogs. Anderson, 2-7 overall and 0-3 in the CVAC, was led by Joel C. Zimmerman with 17 points and Donielle Davis with 13 points. The Bulldogs shot 54 percent from the field in the second half while limiting the Trojans to just 32 percent. Andersonís last lead was 29-28 with 19:37 remaining. From that point, the Bulldogs reeled off 10 straight points, four points by Key sandwiched between 3-point goals by Derek Becton and Black, for a 38-29 lead with 16:50 to play. The Trojans got no closer than seven points the rest of the way. After a 3-point basket by Zimmerman cut the Barton lead to 59-52 with 4:41 left, the Bulldogs responded with seven straight points, five at the free throw line, to put the game away. For the game, Barton shot 51 percent to 33 percent for AC. The Trojans also struggled at the free-throw line. AC made just 10 of 18 from the stripe. Game Statistics Season Statistics
