Davis Leads AC Past Emmanuel, 69-56

ANDERSON, S.C. Donielle Davis scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Anderson College to a 69-56 non-conference victory over Emmanuel Monday night at the Abney Center. Anderson, 2-6 overall, snapped a two-game winning streak with the victory. Emmanuel drops to 3-9. Davis, a senior from Greenville, was 5-for-7 from behind the arc and also had two assists, two steals, and two blocked shots. Anderson never trailed in the game, but the Trojans could never pull away. They led by as many as 14 points midway through the first half, but the Lions pulled back to within eight 35-27 at the half. Emmanuel got as close as five points early in the second half, but the Lions could get no closer. Leading 44-39 with 12:40 remaining, the Trojans got a 3-point from Davis, a basket by Alfred Boykin, and then a steal and a three-point play by Boykin to push their lead to 52-39 with 11:40 remaining. Emmanuel got the deficit under double digits just one more time in the game. Boykin was the only other AC player in double figures with 14 points. Emmanuel was led by Chris Bearden with 14 points and Ryan Frazee with 10. AC won the boards, 38-33. Anderson shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and 46 percent for the game.
