Hash Named First-Team Academic All-DistrictJanuary 31, 2013
ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men’s basketball junior guard Chandler Hash has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III men’s basketball first team for NCAA Division II, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.
A native of Greer, S.C., Hash carries a 3.52 grade point average, while majoring in education and has been named to the Anderson University Dean’s List.
“We are very proud of Chandler and excited for him,” said Anderson head coach Jason Taylor. “He embodies what the term student-athlete is all about.”
The 6-foot junior sharpshooter is averaging 15.9 points per game, leads the Trojans with 48 treys on the season and is tops in the South Atlantic Conference in free throw accuracy.
Hash earned SAC Player of the Week accolades in early December and has reached double-figure scoring on 14 occasions, while posting a career-high 32 points twice this season and drained at least five 3-pointers three times.
Hash was joined on the academic team by North Georgia’s Travis Core, UNC Pembroke’s Ben Jacobs, Coker’s Andrew Morris and USC Aiken’s Jesse Seilern.
In order to earn recognition, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and are voted upon by CoSIDA members. CoSIDA District III includes the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas.
Anderson opens the second half of its South Atlantic Conference round-robin schedule by squaring off against Mars Hill at the Abney Center on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
