Trojans Get First Victory By Beating N. Greenville

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson College placed four players in double figures and limited North Greenville to 27 percent shooting from the field to beat the Crusaders, 78-57 Saturday afternoon at the Abney Center. The victory, AC’s first of the season, improves the Trojans to 1-4. The loss drops North Greenville to 1-6. Anderson was led by Donielle Davis with 15 points, Joel C. Zimmerman with 12, Alfred Boykin with 11, and Tim Thomas with 10. North Greenville’s Rob Wilson led all scorers with 23 points. Anderson shot just 40 percent from the field, 36 percent in the second half, but North Greenville was even colder. The Crusaders did not shooter better than 30 percent in either half. North Greenville made just 18 field goals and was 2-for-24 from behind the arc. AC trailed just once – 3-0 one minute into the game. After two ties, AC steadily built its lead to 20 points late in the first half. The Trojans led 41-25 at the half but could not pull away because of poor shooting from the field. AC made just two field goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. But North Greenville could not take advantage of AC’s offensive struggles. The Crusaders got within 10 – 44-34 – with 14:02 remaining in the game but that is as close as they could get. Robbie Seabrook tossed in three 3-point goals in the final five minutes to help the Trojans pull away. Seabrook and Davis had nine rebounds apiece to lead all rebounders, but both teams pulled down a total of 46 rebounds. AC blocked seven North Greenville shots. The Trojans are off until Dec. 27-28 when they travel to South Dakota State for a holiday tournament. Game Statistics Season Statistics
