Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at Niswonger InvitationalJanuary 19, 2013
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field teams closed out competition at the 35th Annual Niswonger Invitational, hosted by East Tennessee State on Saturday inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletics Center at the David E. Walker Track and Gentry Field.
Sophomore Madison Guest (2:29.32) brought home 19th in the women’s 800 meter run, while fellow sophomore Sydney Hazel (2:32.04) took 27th and junior Rachel Westberry (2:39.69) placed 37th. Freshman Devan Fisher (3:00.45) finished 47th.
Former Trojan standout Whitney Bishoff, running unattached, earned a 16th-place finish in the women’s 5,000 meter run with a time of 19:13.55.
More than 800 student-athletes from more than 60 collegiate teams participated in the meet. In addition to Anderson, the teams included Appalachian State, Austin Peay, Benedict College, Bryan College, Chattanooga, Emory, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, King College, Lee University, Lipscomb, Mars Hill, MTSU, Milligan, Montreat, Murray State, Roanoke College, Southern University at New Orleans, Tennessee Tech, Tennessee Wesleyan, Tusculum, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, Western Carolina and Wofford.
The Trojans get back in action at the Hilton Garden Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Feb. 8-9.
