Plank and Watt Named to the AFCU Gold Standard
January 4, 2013ANDERSON, S.C. – Track and field standouts Brooklyn Watt and Nathan Plank have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of December.
Watt, a sophomore, helped highlight the Trojan women’s effort at last month’s Clemson Orange and Purple Winter Classic by claiming first place in the shot put with a toss of 12.28 meters while competing against a field of 21 throwers from five NCAA Division I schools and three D-II teams. She also brought home seventh place in the weight throw with a distance of 13.04 meters.
Plank earned third place in the Orange and Purple Winter Classic’s weight throw with a toss of 13.45 meters. The sophomore from Honea Path, S.C. also garnered sixth place in the shot put with a toss of 11.14 meters in a field of 12 competitors from a combination of five NCAA Division I teams and a pair of NCAA D-II squads.
Each month, one male and one female student-athlete or teams are honored as the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard Performers of the Month for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
