
Telhada and Diaz Named to the AFCU Gold Standard
December 5, 2012ANDERSON, S.C. – Wrestling’s Dan Telhada, along with women’s basketball’s Alissa Diaz, have been named to the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard for their outstanding performances in the month of November.
Telhada, a junior, held the top spot in the 149-pound class in the season’s first Super Region I Wrestling Coaches Poll released earlier this week after opening the season with seven consecutive wins without a loss. A native of Franklin, Mass., Telhada has recorded three pins and a major decision during his impressive season-opening win streak.
Diaz averaged a team-high 14.1 points, three assists and nearly four rebounds to help lead the women’s basketball team to four wins during the month, including runner-up status at the Alaska-Fairbanks Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational during the Thanksgiving holiday. She was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 14.7 points over the three-game span, while also averaging 3.7 rebounds and nearly four assists. Diaz also posted a career-high 20 points in last week’s win past Catawba.
Each month, one male and one female student-athlete or teams are honored as the Anderson Federal Credit Union Gold Standard Performers of the Month for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
