Trojans Fall in Home OpenerNovember 13, 2012
ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men’s JV basketball team dropped its season-opener, 101-61, to in-state opponent Orangeburg Calhoun Prep Monday night at the Abney Athletic Center.
It was an up-tempo game from start to finish with the Trojans holding their own until the end of the first half, when Orangeburg capitalized in transition on some key turnovers to take a 48-32 lead at halftime.
The Trojans scored the first four points of the second half before AU turnovers and a rebounding advantage helped Orangeburg build a big lead. The Trojans made a late run in the second half but were unable to overcome the deficit.
Freshman point guard Corey Davis led the Trojans with 15 points and freshman post player Victor Boggs added 14 points.
The Trojans will play again this week as they welcome Spartanburg Methodist to the Abney Center on Thursday night at 7p.m.
