
Erskine Women's Golf Edges Anderson in Match Play
April 13, 2012GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Anderson University women’s golf team dropped three of four matches to Erskine at the conclusion of the two-day head-to-head match play competition Friday afternoon, as the Flying Fleet captured a 5-2 overall victory at Hunter’s Creek Plantation.
Friday’s event featured six individuals on each team competing in a match-play format with six points available. Anderson needed to claim four of the six points available to win the two-day event after trailing 2-1 at the end of Thursday’s first round at Cobb’s Glen.
Due to darkness, only four of the matches were completed.
Anderson junior Lindsay Parks captured a 6 and 4 win past The Fleet’s Courtney Balcome for the Trojans’ lone win on Friday. Erskine’s Janna Bontreger took a 3 and one win over AU’s Natalie Feder, with Dallas Roe defeating Anderson’s Sarah Timms 7 and 5. Anderson sophomore Katie Eskew dropped a 6 and 5 decision.
For the first time in three years and the second time in the last six, Erskine claimed the coveted Beville Cup.
