Jones Earns DII Bulletin All-America Accolades

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University standout guard Denzail Jones has been named to the 2012 Division II Bulletin men’s basketball All-America Second Team, as recently announced.

Jones, the 2011-12 SAC Player of the Year and 2012 Food Lion SAC Championship MVP, finished fourth in the conference in scoring at 17.5 points per game, and helped lead Anderson to its second consecutive NCAA Championship Southeast Regional title game.

He scored a SAC Championship-record 50 points in a double-overtime victory over Newberry in the tournament’s semifinals and tallied a league-record 84 points in three SAC Tournament contests.

Jones also led the SAC in steals, finished fifth in assists average and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio.  He was one of just two juniors on the DII Bulletin All-America First or Second Team – with the other eight honorees all being seniors.

AU ended the season at No. 14 in the NABC national rankings.

Mars Hill guard Sammy Emile and Lincoln Memorial forward Desmond Johnson earned Honorable Mention accolades.
