ANDERSON, S.C. – Using a balanced attack, the 16th-ranked and top-seeded Anderson men’s basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament with a 76-57 win past eighth-seeded Catawba Wednesday night at the Abney Athletic Center.
Anderson (23-4) has won nine straight games and 16 of its last 17 contests and will move on to face fourth-seeded Newberry, an 85-70 winner past No. 5 seeded Lenoir-Rhyne, in the semifinals at Noon on Saturday. Catawba saw its season end at 9-18.
Trailing, 10-7, less than four minutes into the game, the Trojans went on a 24-6 outburst over the next eight minutes to gain a double-digit advantage with 8:41 left in the opening half.
