Men's Basketball Climbs to Fourth in the Southeast Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Anderson men’s basketball team is ranked fourth in the Southeast Region in the NCAA’s second Division II Southeast Region rankings of the season, as released Wednesday.

Anderson (20-4), which is ranked 21st in the nation in the latest NABC Coaches Poll, recently clinched the South Atlantic Conference regular-season title and has won 13 of its last 14 contests, including a 78-72 home win past top-rated Lincoln Memorial earlier this season and a 62-61 win past the Railsplitters last weekend.

Lincoln Memorial (23-3), which is ranked 12th in the latest NABC Coaches Poll, continued to hold on to the top spot in the Southeast Region rankings and is the other SAC school on the regional list.

The top three and seven of the top ten stayed the same, with Clayton State, which was 10th last week, dropping out this week, while Queens jumped to ninth.

USC Aiken and King College flipped their positions this week, as USCA moved up to second, while King slipped one spot from second to third.

The regional rankings are scheduled to be released weekly on Wednesdays through February 29, with the NCAA D-II Tournament selections scheduled to be unveiled on Sunday, March 4.

Eight teams from each of the eight regions will advance to the NCAA Division II tournament. In the Southeast Region, the tournament champions from the SAC, Peach Belt, and Conference Carolinas will receive an automatic bid, with five more at-large selections.

Anderson closes out its regular-season schedule on Saturday by playing host to Carson-Newman
