Wrestlers Get Wins From Telhada and Denmark But Fall at Shippensburg
February 10, 2012SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Dan Telhada and senior Jordan Denmark each earned wins, but the Anderson University wrestling team fell, 37-9, to Shippensburg State Friday night at Heiges Field House.
The 149-pound bout was knotted at 7-7, but Telhada was able to get to overtime as stalling was called on the Raiders’ Kenny Stank. Telhada notched a three-point near fall in the extra time, then Stank suffered an injury.
The 197-pound bout appeared to also be heading to overtime as Denmark was able to capitalize on riding time but the senior from Columbia, S.C. recorded a takedown just before the horn to earn the 5-3 win.
Anderson has little time to rest, as the Trojans visit Pennsylvania-Johnstown Saturday in a match scheduled for 7 p.m.
