Slow Start Dooms Trojan JV SquadNovember 18, 2011
ANDERSON, S.C. – Turnovers proved costly as the Trojan men’s basketball JV team dropped an 80-55 decision to Southern Wesleyan Thursday night at the Abney Athletic Center.
The contest marked third game in four nights and it showed early, with the Trojans turning the ball over several times early and enabling Southern Wesleyan to gain a quick seven-point lead. The Warriors took advantage of long-range accuracy to connect on six 3-pointers in the first half, taking a 25-point lead into halftime.
The Trojans came out of the break with more energy and played Southern Wesleyan on even terms in the second half, trimming the deficit to 18, but were unable to get any closer.
Daniel Flores led AU with nine points, while freshmen Alex Aycock and Aaron Evans each added seven points and McLeod Best scored six.
The Trojans will play again Monday night Nov. 21st against Oxford in the Abney Center at 7pm.
