Women's Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Clemson Invitational
September 17, 2010SENECA, S.C. – The Anderson women’s cross country team posted its second consecutive impressive outing in three weeks with a sixth-place finish at the Clemson Invitational Friday evening at the Tigers’ Musser Farms course.
Facing a field that that included seven Division I teams, the Trojans more than held their own, with standout junior Whitney Bishoff leading the Trojans with an ninth-place finish in a time of 18:08.04. Freshman, Lydia Davis trimmed more than 14 seconds off her season-opening time at USC Upstate’s Eye-Opener, crossing the finish line in 36th and a time of 19:31.86.
Sophomore Emily Eckroth (20:53.90) garnered a 56th place finish, with rookie Madeline Fitts (20:54.31) finishing less than a second later to garner 57th.
Freshman Hannah Robles (21:44.30), sophomore Isabel Berry (21:59.75) and freshman Madison Guest (22:54.28) rounded out the AU squad in 67th, 70th and 74th, respectively.
AU outpaced UNC-Asheville, Georgia Southern and Fort Valley State (Ga.) at the 5k event.
The Trojans are back in action on Oct. 2 at the Louisville Invitational.
