Women's Tennis Downs Limestone
April 3, 2010GAFFNEY, S.C. -- The Anderson women's tennis team bounced back from a disappointing home setback to Lees-McRae by defeating Limestone, 7-2, in Conference Carolinas action Friday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center. Anderson (9-7, 6-3 Conference Carolinas) handed Limestone (0-7, 1-14 CC) its 10th consecutive setback of the 2010 campaign as Anderson’s Shelby Anderson and Gallegos teamed up for an 8-4 win at the No. 2 doubles match, while Julie Halbert and Emily Weiland took the No. 3 flight by default. Eve Aubry and Jimena Munoz Quiroga picked up an 8-5 win for Limestone at the top doubles flight and Munoz Quiroga picked up the Saints’ only singles win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over
Marcela Gallegos in the top singles match. Angie Solorzano won the No. 2 singles flight 6-2, 6-0. Camie Beaulieu Brune won 7-3, 6-1 at the No. 3 match, and Shelby Anderson won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4. Julie Halbert picked up the 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5. Anderson also took the No. 6 singles flight by default. Anderson has a five-day layoff before playing host to Georgia College and State University on Thursday, with first-serve scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Max Grubbs Courts.
