Women's Tennis Drops Match to Lady Bobcats
March 30, 2010ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to 46th ranked Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas action Tuesday afternoon at the Max Grubbs Tennis Courts. Anderson (8-7, 5-3 Conference Carolinas) entered the match having won four of its last five, while Lees-McRae (8-6, 5-2 Conference Carolinas), ranked 10th in the region, has now won its last four matches. The Trojan tandem of Angie Solorzano and Emily Weiland collected an 8-4 win at No. 3, while Julie Halbert claimed her second straight win and improved to 11-3 on the season with a straight-set 6-0, 6-1 win past Brianna Fulp at the No. 5 singles’ slot. Weiland also earned a win at No. 6 when Cameron Joyce retired with Weiland leading 4-2 in the first set. Following an eight-day break, Anderson will get back on the courts Wednesday, April 8, when the Trojans welcome Georgia College and State University to the Max Grubbs Courts.
