April 17, 2009SUMTER, SC--The Anderson University men's tennis team never had to play their #1 and #2 players on Friday, as a 2-1 difference in doubles and singles victories from #3 Renato Assuncao, #4 Navaneetha Baskaran, and #5 Ilya Zakharov were enough to seal a 5-1 win over the Erskine College Flying Fleet in the first round of the Conference Carolinas tournament, giving the Trojans their fifth straight appearance in the conference semi-finals. The Trojans will face Limestone College tomorrow, a team they beat in early March 6-3 at Max Grubbs Tennis Complex. The AU women dropped all three doubles contests and their first two in singles to lose 5-0 to the Lady Flying Fleet. The Lady Trojans will face off against Pfeiffer Saturday with a chance to get to the fifth place game.
