Trojans roll past QueensFebruary 14, 2009
The Anderson University Men's Tennis team started their season with a convincing 8-1 win over Queens on Friday afternoon at the Anderson University Tennis Complex. The Trojan's jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the doubles. The nationally ranked team of Pakebusch/Assuncao defeated Lee-Daigle/Rourke 8-5, at slot nr 2 Murray/Pibernat defeated Abramowitz/Ramirez 8-0, and at nr 3 the team of Zakharov/Baskaran defeated Calderon/McKinzie 8-1. In singles Anderson's nr 1 QU Christian Lee-Daigle defeated AU Philip Pakebusch 2-6, 7-5, 10-8, at nr 2 AU Stephane Murray defeated QU Jonathan O'Rourke 6-3, 6-4, at nr 3 AU Marc Pibernat defeated QU Edwin Ramirez 6-0, 6-0, at nr 4 AU Renato Assuncao defeated QU Chris Kennedy 6-1, 6-0, at nr 5 AU Navaneetha Baskaran defeated QU Alex McKinzie 7-5, 6-2, and at nr 6 AU Ilya Zakharov defeated QU Patricio Calderon 6-0, 6-3. "I am very pleased with how we played today, we looked like a very solid team", Ivarsson said following his men's victory. The Trojans will be in action again on February 20th when they will be host to the Augusta State Jaguars.
