Rollins Edges AU In Men's Tennis
March 13, 2007SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Former Anderson player Gustavo Carvalho beat AU's Jose Augusto Gaspar in three sets to give No. 16 Rollins a 5-4 victory over No. 25 Anderson Tuesday. Anderson, 8-5 overall, dropped an 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles to trail 2-1 entering singles. Anderson won No. 4 singles and No. 5 singles in straight sets using a tiebreaker and won at No. 6 singles 7-5 in the second set. But Carvalho rallied from a one-set deficit to pull out the victory for the Tars. Doubles -- Gomez-Carvalho (R) d. Ramanathan-Assuncao, 8-6; Schwartz-Tan (R) d.
