Men's Tennis Team Receives Regional Bid

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson men's tennis team will face North Florida in the first round of the 43rd annual NCAA Division II Tournament on Friday, May 6, at the Mid-Atlantic Regional at the University of South Carolina Upstate. The Trojans, 18-4 overall and CVAC tournament champions for the third time in the last four years, will play the Ospreys (18-6) at 11:30 a.m. North Florida finished third in the Peach Belt tournament. In the first match of the day, host USC Upstate (13-5) will face fellow Peach Belt Conference member Augusta State (13-9). Six men's teams from the Peach Belt made the tournament field. The two winners will play on Saturday at 9 a.m. for a trip to the national tournament May 11-14 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Anderson is led by sophomore Philippe Magat and senior Sid Sudhakar. Magat was named CVAC Player of the Year after compiling a 16-4 record at No. 1 singles this spring. Sudhakar was 17-1 overall and 10-0 in the CVAC. In four years, Sudhakar was 38-1 in against CVAC competition.
