Georgia College Ends AC's Winning Streak
March 13, 2005MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- The Georgia College & State University men’s tennis team defeated Anderson College 6-3 Saturday. GC&SU took two out of three doubles matches from Anderson. GC&SU’s Neil Scantlebury and Rodrigo Yamauti defeated Anderson’s Philippe Magat and Sid Sadhakar 8-4 at No. 1, but Anderson’s Fredric Genberg and Carlos Sanches defeated GC&SU’s Erick Siqueira and Brandon Lee 8-6 at No. 2 to tie things up. GC&SU’s Marcelo Ferreira and Renato Oliveira defeated Anderson’s Srikrishna Ramanathan and Raul Luna 8-4 at No. 3 to give the Bobcats the 2-1 advantage going into singles play. GC&SU and Anderson continued to battle in the singles matches. Anderson’s Magat defeated Scantlebury 4-6; 6-4; 6-2 at No. 1, while GC&SU’s Siqueira defeated Sadhakar 6-2; 6-4. Yamauti won in three sets over Genberg 3-6; 7-6; 6-0 at No. 3, while Anderson’s Sanches edged Lee 6-4; 7-5. Oliveira earned the clinching fifth point for the Bobcats at No. 5 with a 6-1; 6-3 victory over Ramanathan, and Ferriera defeated Luna 6-4; 4-6; 6-2 at No. 6.
