Lady Trojans Repeat 346, Finish Fifth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Anderson College women's golf team shot another 346 to finish fifth in the 10-team Top-Flite/Raffertys Tournament Tuesday at the Regent Park Golf Club. The Lady Trojans finished at 692 and in fifth place in the 10-team event. Kathryn Adkins led AC with another 79 for a two-day total of 158. Adkins finished in a tie for second in the individual standings. The other scores for the AC women in the second round were: Brandi Jackson 83, Whitney Stokes 92, Janie Wichert 92, and Darcie Davis 95. The Charlotte tournament was the final tournament of the fall for the AC women. Ė April Phillips scored in the 48th minute and Adriane Klebe added a goal off a direct kick 15 minutes later to give Anderson College a 2-0 victory over Converse in a non-conference womenís match Monday night at Smethers Field. The victory improves AC to 8-10 overall and snaps ACís losing streak at eight. AC dominated most of the match. The Lady Trojans took 34 shots to 10 for Converse. AC goalkeeper Denise New made five saves to pick up her first shutout of the season and the first for the Lady Trojans since Sept. 19. Converse goalkeeper Jessica Simmons, under pressure most of the match, made 12 saves. Both AC Golf Teams Finish Fifth In Charlotte CHARLOTTE, N.C. Ė Both Anderson College golf teams finished fifth in the Top-Flite/Raffertys Tournament Tuesday at the Regent Park Golf Club. In the menís tournament, AC, led by a 69 by Kyle Owings, shot a 303 in the second round to finish at 611 and in fifth place in the nine-team event. Owings finished in a tie for second at 144. ACís other second round scores were: Reed Brown 76, Jonathan Hines 79, Denton Moore 79, and Andrew Corley 85.
